Introduction
We recently completed the installation of a biomass boiler for a customer in rural Denbighshire, near the village of Llansannan. The customer was looking for an environmentally friendly alternative to their ageing and costly oil boiler. After surveying the property, we decided to install the Klover Ecompact 150 pellet utility boiler within an existing outbuilding.
Methodology
The project commenced with our team’s initial survey of the customer’s property. The primary objective was to identify a suitable replacement for the old oil boiler, focusing on improving efficiency and reducing environmental impact. After a thorough assessment and discussion with the homeowner, the Klover Ecompact 150 biomass boiler was selected. This model was chosen for its high efficiency, self-cleaning features, and suitability for installation in an outbuilding.
Installation
The Klover Ecompact 150, known for its 92.6% efficiency and 14.6kW output, was installed in an existing outbuilding. This wood pellet utility boiler features a built-in pellet hopper and front-facing servicing capabilities, making it ideal for the location. The boiler was carefully positioned, and the flue was routed straight up and out through the flat roof to ensure optimal ventilation and safety. The installation included the boiler, hot water cylinder, and necessary pipework and electronics.
Once the system was in place, comprehensive testing was conducted to ensure all components were functioning correctly and the system was running optimally. Following this, the pipework was insulated to enhance efficiency and protect against heat loss before being routed back to the main building.
Funding
One of the significant advantages of opting for a renewable energy system is the potential financial support available through various renewable energy schemes. In this case, the project benefitted from the Boiler Upgrade Scheme (BUS), which provided the homeowner with a substantial saving of £5,000 on the installation costs. This funding not only made the transition to a greener energy source more affordable but also highlighted the economic benefits of investing in renewable technologies.
Outcome
The installation of the Klover biomass boiler proved to be a resounding success. The customer now enjoys a highly efficient and environmentally friendly heating system that significantly reduces their carbon footprint. The new system has transformed the property’s heating efficiency, lowering energy bills and enhancing sustainability.
The project also reinforced our reputation as a leading biomass installer in North Wales. By leveraging the latest technology and taking advantage of available funding schemes, we are able to deliver a high-quality, cost-effective solution that meets the customer’s needs and exceeds their expectations.
