Introduction
We recently undertook a significant project to replumb a home’s heating system in Mold, Flintshire. Our job was to upgrade the property, bidding farewell to an outdated oil boiler and ushering in a modern, eco-friendly replacement. Central to this project would be the installation of a Grant 10.5 kW air source heat pump, with its impressive A+++ energy rating and a generous guarantee.
Methodology
The project began with a thorough assessment of a detached property located in Mold. It was decided that the outdated pipework and radiators would be removed to make way for a brand-new central heating system. We opted for new high-output radiators to ensure optimal performance of the air source heat pump. Furthermore, we decided to position a large Grant cylinder in the alcove that was previously occupied by the oil boiler, which will provide ample storage for hot water.
Installation
With the old oil boiler removed, our team swiftly moved on to installing the Grant 10.5 kW air source heat pump at the rear of the property. Working in tandem, we also fitted the Grant cylinder, a vital component responsible for storing and efficiently distributing hot water throughout the entire home. Following this, we undertook a thorough overhaul of the existing central heating system. This encompassed the removal of outdated pipework and radiators. To improve efficiency even further, we made the strategic decision to install higher output radiators, perfectly complementing the capabilities of the air source heat pump.
Funding
This project was made possible through the support of the ECO4 scheme, an initiative designed to assist homeowners in upgrading their home’s heating system. Under this scheme, qualifying households receive financial assistance to cover the costs of eco-friendly upgrades, ensuring that even the most vulnerable members of the community can benefit from enhanced energy efficiency. In addition to the ECO4 scheme, our client opted for additional environmentally friendly improvements, including the installation of 10 rooftop solar panels.
Outcome
After the installation of the air source heat pump and related upgrades, the property now boasts a state-of-the-art heating system that prioritises efficiency and sustainability. The days of relying on fossil fuels are gone! instead, our client benefits from a carbon-neutral solution that runs on renewable energy. This not only enhances the comfort of their home but also aligns with their environmental values, reducing their carbon footprint and contributing to a greener future for generations to come.
