Introduction
In the picturesque village of Llysfaen, nestled along the scenic coastline of Conwy in North Wales, a homeowner embarked on a journey towards sustainable living by opting for a comprehensive overhaul of their heating system. Seeking to embrace eco-friendly solutions without compromising on efficiency, they entrusted us with the task of transforming their home’s heating. This case study delves into the methodology employed, our installation process, funding methods and the ultimate outcome of this exciting project.
Methodology
Our approach took advantage of cutting-edge technology to optimise energy consumption while minimising environmental impact. After thorough assessment and consultation, we recommended the installation of a Grant 10.5 kW air source heat pump, renowned for its exceptional efficiency and eco-friendly operation. This heat pump, boasting an A+++ rating and a generous seven-year guarantee, promised unparalleled performance even in the face of challenging Welsh temperatures.
Installation
The installation comprised not only fitting the Grant heat pump but also integrating it with a new 150-litre cylinder to store hot water efficiently. Additionally, we replaced eight radiators to maximise heat distribution and upgraded all associated pipework. Careful attention was paid to ensure that the installation had minimal impact on the aesthetic appeal of the property, with the compact footprint of the unit blending into its surroundings.
Funding
To ease the financial burden of such a significant upgrade, the project benefited from the support of the ECO4 scheme. This Government initiative helps qualifying homeowners enhance their energy efficiency and plays a pivotal role in covering the costs of heating upgrades. Complemented by additional upgrades such as solar PV and enhanced insulation will greatly enhance the overall sustainability of the home.
Outcome
Following the successful installation of the new heating system, the homeowner was delighted with the transformation. Not only did they enjoy the warmth and comfort provided by the state-of-the-art heat pump, but they also enjoyed the knowledge that their home was now significantly more energy-efficient and environmentally friendly. With reduced energy bills and a smaller carbon footprint, the outcome surpassed their expectations, highlighting the benefits of embracing renewable heating solutions.
