Introduction
The Nixon team recently completed the installation of a 12kW Samsung Air Source Heat Pump for a customer in Rhewl, a village located between Ruthin and Denbigh in Denbighshire, North Wales. This project was part of a bespoke modern self-build where we worked closely with the client from start to finish. Our aim was to deliver a high-performance, energy-efficient heating solution that aligned with the client’s exact requirements for both comfort and sustainability.
Methodology
After discussing the client’s heating needs, we decided to install a 12kW Samsung EHS Mono HT Quiet air source heat pump. This model was chosen for its ability to consistently provide hot water up to 70°C while maintaining low noise levels. It is well-suited to residential renovation projects and performs reliably even in a cold snap. The unit’s dark grey design would also blend in seamlessly with the modern aesthetic of the home’s exterior.
To optimise the heating system, the plan was to install underfloor heating on the entire ground floor and radiators in the upstairs rooms. This approach offered the client the flexibility of having higher temperatures for the radiators upstairs while blending valves on the ground floor ensured the underfloor heating operated at a lower temperature.
Installation
The installation process included fitting the air source heat pump and a climate hot water cylinder. This system is designed for future integration with solar panels, which the customer plans to install at a later date, reducing running costs and enhancing energy efficiency.
Our team completed all the plumbing for the property, including the bathrooms, kitchen, and utility room. Special attention was given to concealing pipework behind kitchen cabinets while keeping it accessible for future maintenance.
The kitchen was fitted with modern features such as a cooker tap that provides both boiling and sparkling water, as well as a wok hob to enhance cooking convenience. Once the installation was complete, we performed a full test to ensure that all systems were functioning properly and provided the homeowner with a thorough explanation of how everything works.
Outcome
The completed project delivered a highly efficient heating solution which met the client’s needs. The 12kW Samsung Air Source Heat Pump offers reliable heating even in the coldest winters, while its quiet operation and excellent efficiency ensure a cosy home. The customer is now equipped with a modern, energy-efficient system that can easily be upgraded with solar panels in the future.
