Plumbing & Heating Upgrade at A Doctors Surgery in Denbigh

Introduction

Nixon Plumbing and Heating recently undertook a comprehensive project at Bronyffynnon Surgery in Denbigh. The project aimed to modernise the heating and hot water systems, enhance energy efficiency, and improve the overall comfort and safety of the facility.

Project Details

Boiler Replacement and Radiator Installation
Nixon Plumbing and Heating’s primary task was to replace the existing heating system with a more energy-efficient solution. This involved:

  • Installing a Worcester Combi Boiler
  • Installing fourteen radiators equipped with thermostatic radiator valves (TRVs) to improve temperature control in each room.
  • Removing the outdated hot water boilers from each room to optimise space and energy consumption.

Cold-Water Storage Tank Removal
The project also required the removal of the cold-water storage tank located in the loft. Nixon Plumbing and Heating’s team safely and efficiently removed the tank and connected the existing tank outlets to the cold-water supply to ensure uninterrupted water availability.

Boiler Components and Controls
To ensure maximum efficiency and user-friendly control, the following components and controls were installed:

  • Worcester boiler and flue
  • A high-efficiency filter to maintain system cleanliness.
  • A Worcester Bosch Easy Control Smart Thermostat for precise temperature management.

Testing and Commissioning
After the installation was completed, Nixon Plumbing and Heating carried out rigorous testing to ensure the entire system functioned optimally. This involved checking for leaks, verifying proper radiator heating, and ensuring that the boiler operated efficiently. The system was fully commissioned to meet the highest standards of safety and performance.

Commercial Gas Safe Certification
Upon successful completion of the project, Nixon Plumbing and Heating issued a commercial gas safe certificate. This certificate demonstrates that the installation complies with all relevant safety and industry standards, providing peace of mind to Bronyffynnon Surgery and its patients.

Legionella Risk Assessment
Nixon Plumbing and Heating took the necessary steps to address legionella risk within the facility. This included implementing protocols to prevent the growth and spread of legionella bacteria in water systems, thereby ensuring the safety of staff and patients.

Outcome

The collaboration between Nixon Plumbing and Heating and Bronyffynnon Surgery resulted in a successful project that significantly improved the facility’s heating and hot water systems. The installation of the Worcester Combi Boiler and modern radiators not only enhanced comfort but also reduced energy consumption, leading to potential cost savings for the Surgery. The removal of old systems, electrical safety measures, and the legionella risk assessment contributed to a safer and more efficient healthcare environment.

Nixon Plumbing and Heating’s commitment to quality workmanship, safety, and compliance with industry standards was evident throughout the project. The issuance of a commercial gas safe certificate ensures the longevity and reliability of the newly installed system.

This case study serves as a testament to Nixon Plumbing and Heating’s expertise in delivering comprehensive plumbing and heating solutions, even in complex commercial settings like healthcare facilities. The successful project at Bronyffynnon Surgery highlights our dedication to improving energy efficiency, safety, and overall comfort for our clients.
